Protection and Control for Submersible Pumps

TECHNICALITIES:

Most pumps installed with Pumptron are used in the typical basic mode, that is, sensing lack of water or overload. Some times the float switch facility is used to control the levels of tanks or dams.

The "float switch" however can have some interesting uses.

Following there are some examples.

Float Switch and Thermostat combination;

A large pump has an integrated thermostat.

The thermostat cables were connected to the "Float Switch" facility of Pumptron, so if an overheat signal occurs, Pumptron stops the pump instantly.

At a later stage a float switch was needed to control a tank's level. The float switch was connected in series with the thermostat switch; this way if either of the switches becomes open circuit, Pumptron stops the pump instantly.

Using a Pressure Switch instead of a Float Switch;

A pump is far away from the tank. A pressure switch was used to avoid laying hundreds of meters of cable.

In the tank there is a mechanical float valve.

When water reaches the level, the float valve closes; the pump then builds up pressure in the pressure switch until it opens circuit.

The switch, which is connected to Pumptron's "Float Switch" plug, causes the pump to stop.

When the level in the tank drops and the pressure valve opens, the pressure reduces and the pressure switch connects. Pumptron activates and after a preset time it restarts the pump.

Combination of two Pumptron units to control tanks in nursery;

Nurseries have a system of twin tanks for water purification and special irrigation.

In the processing of water two pumps are used.

Each pump needs protection from running without water or overflowing the tanks.

A combination of two Pumptron units taking advantage of Pumptron's features, more specifically the "Float Switch", makes possible a perfect arrangement.
